Steve Ellis started Logistics Strategies & Support (LSS) in 1998 following a career involving a number of senior positions in the transport, distribution and logistics consultancy industry. In 2000 Steve teamed up with a former colleague, Craig Batchelor, combining the operations of LSS and Batchelor Recruitment under the Logistics & Recruitment Support name.
Steve's particular expertise in physical distribution, inventory management, strategic alliance and employee relations has been developed from both hands-on and senior management roles. In these roles Steve also developed substantial experience in the supply strategy and business management fields.
In a consultancy career of eight years Steve has conducted and/or been the Managing Consultant for in excess of one hundred assignments, covering a very broad range of industry types and operations.
Steve's background has been based in the Logistics and Supply areas and includes:
- General Manager Henderson Consultants Qld, focusing on the development of strategic relationships and on the improvements to clients’ logistics operations
- Founding General Manager of IPEC Logistics, focusing on the development of relationships with key transport clients to deliver increasingly effective arrangements. Also, as the leader of partnerships development within Mayne Nickless, Steve provided internal and education on partnership principles and effective supply strategies
- As Operations Manager for Sydney Ferries, Steve was responsible for applying logistics and business management principle to Sydney Ferries’ operation.
Prior to these appointments Steve held several distribution positions including Distribution Manager NSW - Franklins, and Distribution Centre Manager – Woolworths Sydney. In these positions Steve gained significant expertise in all aspects of warehousing including design and layout, materials handing requirements and specifications, warehouse management systems and operations issues, including industrial relations.
